Learn Levantine Arabic in Beirut
Whether you're an expat settling into life in Lebanon, a heritage learner reconnecting with your roots, a traveler exploring the region, or a professional expanding your skills — Alson helps you speak the Arabic people actually use.
Why Learn Levantine Arabic?
Levantine Arabic is the spoken language of daily life across Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Palestine. It's what you need to truly connect.
Real Conversations, Not Textbooks
Modern Standard Arabic is for news and formal writing. Levantine is what people speak at home, in cafes, and on the street. We teach the language you'll actually hear and use.
Understood Across the Region
Thanks to Lebanese media and music, Levantine Arabic is widely understood throughout the Arab world. Learn one dialect, connect with millions.
Connect with Family & Community
For heritage learners, speaking Levantine means bridging the gap between generations. Understand your grandparents, join the conversation, feel at home.
Travel with Confidence
Navigate markets, order food, ask for directions, and make friends. Speaking even basic Levantine transforms your experience in the region.

About Alson
Alson was founded with a simple idea: learning Arabic should feel personal, practical, and connected to real life. We're a small team of passionate teachers based in Beirut who believe that language learning works best when it's built around conversation, culture, and genuine human connection.
Our students come from all over the world — diplomats, NGO workers, university researchers, heritage learners visiting family, and curious travelers who want more than a phrasebook. What they share is a desire to speak Arabic the way it's actually spoken in Lebanon.
We keep our classes small, our approach flexible, and our focus on the Levantine dialect that will serve you in daily life. No rigid curricula, no one-size-fits-all. Just thoughtful teaching adapted to you.

What Our Students Say
Hear from learners who found their voice in Levantine Arabic.
I moved to Beirut for work and felt completely lost in conversations. After three months with Alson, I can chat with my colleagues in Arabic, order food without pointing at the menu, and actually understand what my neighbors are saying. The teachers make every class feel natural and fun.
Sarah M.
Expat, NGO Professional
My parents spoke Arabic at home but I never really learned. Alson helped me reconnect with that part of my identity. Now when I visit my teta in the village, we talk for hours. It means everything to my family — and to me.
Karim D.
Heritage Learner, Based in Montreal
I needed Levantine Arabic for my research on Lebanese media. Alson's private lessons were exactly what I needed — focused, efficient, and adapted to my specific vocabulary needs. My fieldwork interviews improved dramatically.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before getting started.
Not at all. We welcome complete beginners and design our beginner classes to build your confidence from day one. If you already have some Arabic background — whether MSA, another dialect, or childhood exposure — we'll assess your level and place you accordingly.
Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) is the formal, written language used in news, literature, and official settings. Levantine Arabic is the spoken dialect used in everyday life across Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Palestine. While MSA is important for reading and formal contexts, Levantine is what you need to have real conversations. At Alson, we focus on Levantine because it's the language of daily life.
Most students who take two to three classes per week reach a comfortable conversational level within three to four months. Of course, it depends on your starting point, practice outside of class, and how much Arabic you encounter in your daily life. Living in Beirut certainly accelerates the process.
Absolutely. Many of our students join from abroad — across Europe, North America, the Gulf, and beyond. Our online classes are live, interactive, and just as effective as in-person sessions. All you need is a stable internet connection and a willingness to practice.
Each session is conversation-driven. You'll learn vocabulary and grammar through real-life scenarios — ordering food, making small talk, telling stories, navigating everyday situations. We use a mix of dialogue practice, listening exercises, and cultural context to keep things engaging and practical.
Just click the 'Book a Free Trial' button on our website or send us a message through the contact form. We'll arrange a short introductory session where you can meet a teacher, try a mini-lesson, and discuss your goals. There's no obligation — it's simply a chance to see if Alson is the right fit for you.
